Recording and Rehearsal Studios

Recording and Rehearsal Studios

Recording your music can be daunting, but it is one of the most important and satisfying experiences you will have in your music career. We have all tried doing it ourselves, but there really is no substitute for an experienced producer in a well-equipped studio. It can be a pricey undertaking, but the results will (hopefully) blow your mind. Here at Guitar Lessons Derby, we want you to experience the thrill of hearing your own music produced to the professional level - and after all, a well-produced demo is almost essential for getting a decent gig these days. It is often a considerable investment, however, and we don't want you to go wasting your money. We've been to good studios, bad studios and everything in-between, so we thought we would give you the heads-up on which places are worth visiting:

Meadow Farm Studio is a well-established name in the recording business here in Derby. Owned and operated by Stuart Hill, an experienced musician and producer, Meadow Farm provides a huge range of packages and experiences suitable for all needs. Located on Bridle Lane in Lower Hartshay (near Ripley, Derbyshire), this studio is a little out of the way - but well worth the effort. They will even pick you up from the station if you are travelling by train... Talk about customer service.

Piggyback Studios operate both recording and rehearsal rooms, so if you are looking for somewhere to practice with your band then this is the one for you. Located within easy reach of the A511, near Burton-on-Trent (postcode DE15 0PU), They have two well-equipped practice spaces as well as a fully-functional recording environment, but they also offer on-site mobile recording. This could be an option for you if you have a particular atmosphere in mind or you like the sound of a specific room elsewhere. Either way, these guys will go out of their way to help you so give them a call.

Donut Creative Arts Studio is more than just a recording studio - also featuring a dance studio, green room and digital media suite it is more of a full-on arts centre. Their studio is superb though and is safely inside a hermetically (well, acoustically...) sealed room, so your recording will be as clean as if it were recorded on the moon. The staff are experienced in a wide variety of fields, so there almost certainly will be somebody there who will understand what you are doing. Donut is located in its own building on Spring Band Road, Chesterfield, Derbyshire S40 1NL.

Siron Recording Studio is owned and operated by Burton and South Derbyshire College, and is the result of significant recent investment by the College. Here you will get the best of both worlds - professional-level equipment and engineers, but at student-worthy prices. If you are on a budget then this studio should probably be your first port of call. The studio is located on the college campus on Lichfield Street, Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire DE14 3RL, so if you aren't a student you get to pretend to be one all day. Obviously, this facility is open to non-students, so don't let that put you off...

If you have any further questions, or you are unsure about the whole process of recording your music please donut (see what we did there) hesitate to get in touch with us here at Guitar Lessons Derby - whether you learn to play the guitar with us or not we are here to help budding guitarists and musicians such as yourselves to get the maximum from their music. Going to a studio can be expensive, but start with these guys and you won't go far wrong. Of course, do not be afraid to explore other options - there are many available to you. Make sure you let us know how you get on though, we would love to hear it. Good luck and happy recording to you all.
